First Father's Day

I didn't capture any photos from Riley's first Father's Day because I was too busy catering to his every desire ... or I just forgot.  One of those two, you decide.

I bought him a couple metal signs for his garage and made him a gift certificate stating that he could buy some tools that he has been wanting from work.

Oliver made daddy a footprint tractor on a canvas to put in his office.

Cute Cousins

While Grandma Sherry was babysitting last week, Haley and Hudson came to visit at the end of the week.

Hudson is so gentle and loving with Ollie. Many hugs and kisses were exchanged.

Oliver shared all of his toys like a good little boy... even his bumbo which didn't quite fit Hudson.

Grandma was quite tuckered out after spending the day with these two on Friday.  I received the following picture with a text saying, "I suggest you don't have two kids this close in ages.  I'm worn out!!"  Duly noted.

Grandma Babysits

Last week Ollie's daycare was closed so Grandma Sherry spent the week with us taking care of our little guy.  It was nice to not have to pack a bag and get things ready for daycare, but it was even nicer to come home to laundry being folded by my sweet momma.

Oliver definitely enjoyed his grandma time.  They took lots of walks, lots of naps, and I'm sure had lots of good snuggles.

Oliver's First Car Show

Grandma Marcia and Grandpa Jim came to visit for the weekend.  Saturday was the Westy Car Show so Ollie was able to experience his first one.

As always he was pretty content.

Baby Photo Comparison

We've been trying to figure out who Oliver resembles the most.

We are all about 4 months old in these photos.  I can see both Riley and I in him, but he most definitely he has my hair and Riley's hairline.

Four Months Old

Ollie's four month photos were really easy this month.  He was cooperative and I had the help of my mom for several of them which made everything go smoothly and fast.

Here's our little mister:

(I think he sort of looks older in the 3 month photo than he does in the 4 month photo.  I don't know if it's the overalls or what, but he just seems so grownup in the 3 month picture.)

Four Month Check-up & First Time Eating Cereal

Ollie had his four month appointment on Wednesday.  Since Grandma Sherry was watching him this week, she was able to join.  He weighed in at 14 lbs 6 oz and is 24 1/2 inches long.

We had to wait a bit for Dr. Gallagher to come in so Oliver enjoyed laying on his back and kicking like crazy.  I rolled him over on his tummy and he enjoyed the noisy paper this way too.

Oliver has had a big appetite lately so we decided to start him on rice cereal today.  He wasn't sure what to think.  We are still working on swallowing as he doesn't have that figured out quite yet.

Sleeping

Our little guy is sure growing up fast.  He has slept in a bassinet with the side open and butted up next to our bed until he was three months old. We then put the side up on the bassinet and moved him away from the bed, but still in our room.

Monday was his last night in our room before moving to his crib.

He is usually pretty consistent about only getting up once in the night for a diaper change and to eat. Every once in a while he may wake up twice or sometimes sleeps through the night. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to him consistently sleeping through the night.

First night in his own room.

Pool

Oliver went swimming for the first time today in our pool. He wasn't quite sure about it, but he didn't hate it.

He kicked his feet around and seemed to enjoy it for the most part.  He held his arms out straight out so that his hands wouldn't touch the water.  I wish I would have gotten a picture as it was pretty comical.

Annual Anniversary Photo - Year 2

Every year Riley and I plan to take an annual anniversary photo at St. Leo's Catholic Church where we were married.  Lots of things have changed in two short years.

Family Photos

We were in Horton this past weekend for one of Riley's classmate's wedding so we took the opportunity to take our annual anniversary photo (about a week late) as well as some other family photos.

This was a first for us, so it wasn't easy.  Haley played photographer while my mom supplied her antics to get Oliver to smile.  We didn't get nearly as many photos as I had hoped for, but when Ollie is ready to call it quits, we call it quits.

New Things

We haven't had a ton of excitement around here in the Richling household, but we've got a couple of new things to share.

First off, Ollie borrowed a Bumbo from his cousins, Tyson and Carter.  He loves to sit up so he thinks it's pretty cool.  Although he is not very enthused in this photo, he really does love it.

Our kitchen got a new faucet, not by our choice though.  A few weekends ago, Riley went downstairs to switch laundry and found a wet couch.  The kitchen faucet had leaked through the ceiling!  So of course, to Menard's we went and my handy husband installed the new one.  (I won't mention how the faucet had troubles ever since we bought the house almost two years ago.... and how I had been asking for it to get fixed.  Nope, I'm not going to bring up that little piece of the puzzle.)  It looks nice and works so I'm happy.

Oliver got a new shelf in his bedroom.  Previously his toys were shoved into his closet and that really wasn't working.  He is starting to interact more and loves his toys, especially his orange O-Ball from Grandma Sherry and Grandpa Dave.

(And yes, those picture frames are filled with random babies because I have still yet to print off a single photo of Oliver.  Mommy fail.)

Ollie also loves to smile when mommy talks to him and daddy can really get him laughing.

Happy Baby

Monday and Tuesday Oliver ate every 2 hours at Lacey's.  I think he must have been going through a growth spurt because I swear he looks like he has grown so much in the last couple days.

Riley and I can't wait to spend time with him everyday after work and today was no exception.  He was full of energy, smiles, and laughs today.

From Oliver's bedroom I heard the loudest, cutest shrieks and giggles coming from our little guy.  By the time I grabbed my phone to record he was mostly done, but this video captured a few of his squeals.

Day Date for Our 2nd Anniversary

Yesterday Jaime and Shelby watched Ollie so we could celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary.  I can't remember the last time that we went out on a real date, so we had lots to make up for.

Together we planned (and by that I mean I looked up places, times, cost, etc. and Riley just went along with whatever I said) out our day.  Our day date consisted of lots of competitive-like activities so we made it a little interesting with a bet.  The deal was whoever lost the most games of the day had to wash bottles and pump parts for the whole week.  (This was of course my idea as I am usually the one doing the washing.  I figured if I lost, it would just be another week... but if I won, what a prize that would be!)

We started with mini golf.  I began strong, but Riley's two hole-in-ones followed by my sad attempts results in a W for Riley.

Next up were the batting cages.  I had never done batting cages before so I made Riley go first.  Winner of batting cages was whoever hit the most.  Riley did pretty amazing and only missed a few.  I on the other hand had some pretty pitiful attempts.  In my defense, I should have walked down further to the slow-pitch softball cages, but I didn't know about them until we were already done.  Needless to say, Riley won again.

Our last activity for the day was bowling.  We played two games; Riley won the first and I won the second.  We contemplated going to the Union to see if we could find an air hockey table (something that I can actually beat him at), but decided to just head to dinner instead.

Taco Bell is only reserved for special occasions like our 5 year dating anniversary, engagement night, and 1st year wedding anniversary.  Instead we went to Carlos O'Kelly's.  It was no La Fiesta, but it was okay.

While we were on our date, Ollie got to spend some time with Uncle Shelby and Aunt Jaime. Jaime's nephew, Asher and niece, Avery were excited to spend some time with Ollie.

Today is our actual anniversary so we celebrated by grilling out.  Yum!
