Photo Shoot

One of my preschool aides offered to take photos of Oliver.  She is much better behind the camera than I am so I jumped at the chance.  Here is what she captured of our little guy:

Traumatic Baths, Teeth, and a Trip

Oliver has had a few traumatic baths this past week.  The first was under mommy's supervision and resulted in his first bruise.  I had just finished giving him his bath and drained the water.  He decided that this would be a good time to lean forward which tipped his bath seat over.  He bonked his head on the bottom of the bathtub.

The next traumatic bath he had was given by daddy.  Oliver was hunched over as Riley was pouring water on his head and he decided to lean back which resulted in a face full of water.  Riley yelled for help saying that Oliver tried to drown himself.  He choked on the water and then puked everywhere.  It was a mess.  Despite his recent traumatic baths, he still enjoys bath time.  Poor kid is put through a lot dealing with his amateur parents.

Oliver got his two bottom teeth in on Wednesday!  We were a little surprised by them because he quit drooling so much a few weeks ago and hasn't seemed super cranky or anything.

(These awkward photos are the only way I could get a picture of his teeth.  Riley sat him up and reached around to tickle him so that he would show us those pearly whites.)

Derrick & Heidi bought a new house and moved this past week.  With their two boys, they were outgrowing their home in Newton.  We went to Halstead on Saturday to visit and help move a few of the remaining things.  It was a nice little visit.  Ollie and Carter got a chance to play together too.

It wouldn't be a weekend without a daddy-baby snuggle nap.

This Week

Things have been pretty busy around here.  I'm starting my second year teaching preschool so I had all the exciting inservice meetings and such at the beginning of this past week.  Thursday was my first day of school and Friday was Oliver's first day at his new daycare.  Even though he is 6 months old, it was my first time to drop him off.  Luckily the busyness of a new school year beginning helped to lessen my nerves about him starting at a new place.  The day must have gone pretty well though, because when Teresa dropped him off with me she commented that he was an angel and I should have a dozen more just like him.

While Ollie and I were busy with a new school year and a new daycare, Riley was in Texas for work.  He left Thursday and returned on Saturday.  We missed him and Oliver was all smiles when he got home :)

Ollie and I didn't know what to do without Riley there, so when in doubt of what to do.... take photos :)

Our weekend was pretty uneventful as we just hung out, went to church & out to dinner, and caught up on some family time.  We also finished up a few of his six month photos that I had been waiting to do with a happy, healthy (he had a pretty yucky cold) baby and Riley's help.

These two guys crack me up.  Riley's job was to make sure he didn't fall off the chair and Oliver was sure to lean close to the edge so that Riley had panicked jolts towards him several times.  I think Oliver was making a game out of it.

While I worked on homework this afternoon, Ollie hung out with Riley outside trimming bushes.  I can't believe he needed a jacket and jeans this morning, but it was pretty chilly out there in the shade.

We did have a surprise visit from Ma-maw and Papa.  They decided to take a little motorcycle ride to come visit Oliver.

We Have a Sitter

We have a sitter.  Oliver is sitting up pretty consistently on his own.

He's pretty proud of himself.

He's also sporting his K-State onsie that his Aunt Haley gave him.

In other sitting news, Ollie will soon be heading to a new sitter.  Yes, again.  His current one only lasted five weeks before getting the news that we needed to find something else.  Hopefully, the fourth times the charm.  Poor kid is only 6 months old, spent 6 weeks at home with me, and has been all over the place since entering the world of daycare.  (The care home fell through a couple weeks before he was born, Lacey was too far away and took a job, and Anna is closing her daycare in Wamego and taking a job.)  Ollie's new sitter is in Riley so I'm excited to be able to have him in town with me during the school day.  This also means getting to spend more time with him.  Let's hope this one is a good fit and lasts.

Six Months Old

Our little mister is now 6 months old.  He had his well-check on Monday and weighed in at 16 pounds, 15 ounces.  He is making his way up the charts as he is now in the 37th percentile.  He's still a shorty (like his dad) at 26 inches which is the 22nd percentile.  His 44 cm head circumference is in the 70th percentile.  He needs a big noggin to hold all those brains he gets from his momma.

He in finally in 3-6 month clothing.  I was a little sad to pack away his 0-3 month stuff; he is growing up way too fast.

Strangers in public are always commenting on what a cute little girl we have.  I never saw anything girly about my little man so I decided to test out a new hair style.  I think he does make a pretty cute little girl, but daddy wasn't impressed.

Mommy-Baby Weekend in Horton

Riley had a bachelor party in Junction City to attend so Ollie and I went to Horton for the weekend.

My parents invited Riley's parents over for supper and swimming on Friday night.  Papa insisted that Oliver needed to have corn on the cob so he enjoyed gnawing on it for a while.

Ollie as always, enjoyed his time in the pool.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out with family.

Oliver got to meet lots of new people as we were able to stop by a Richling family get-together for a bit and also had the Buessing Family Reunion at my parents' house.  Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos at either one.  Mommy fail.
