Froyo

Today I had another baby appointment.  As the due date/induction date is getting closer, I've been trying to spend some quality time with this little guy before his world is rocked.

Today called or froyo at Orange Leaf.

I love that cheesy little smile!

Family Weekend / Pool Party

Usually every summer we have a pool party get-together with my family at my parents' house.  We had the whole crew there this year - mom, dad, Eric, Sarah, (missing Kaylee) Hudson, Haley, Dalton, me, Riley, Oliver, Bobby, Paula, Braeden, Bryson, Grandma Mary, and Grandpa Bob.

It was a great weekend with lots of pool time and family time.

Laundry Room / Mudroom Makeover

We are still continuing our projects at home trying to get everything the way we want it before baby comes.  When we were house hunting and first saw the laundry room space, I immediately told Riley that this would be a perfect space for some cubbies!  The thought of having a place to come inside and drop all of our stuff makes my heart happy.

Riley wasn't thrilled about the idea of having to build some cubbies, but they turned out great and I love them!

Oliver already trained in our routine when returning from school/daycare.  He climbs up on the bench, takes his shoes off, and puts them in his bin!

Washington County Fair

Riley drove a tractor in the Washington County Fair this past Friday.  Oliver and I joined him since it had a nice air conditioned cab (It's been such a hot week!  Way too hot for me!).

We didn't hang around too long afterwards because of the high temps, but Ollie did enjoy checking out some animals on our way through.

Omaha Mini Vacation

We ventured to my aunt and uncle's in Bellevue this past weekend for a little mini vacation.  The Omaha Zoo was our main priority, that and spending time with Bobby, Paula, Braeden, and Bryson!

Prior to going into the zoo, we played at the Rosenblatt Stadium which is where the college World Series used to take place.

It was great to have some family time with Oliver, especially since his world will soon be rocked with a new baby sister.

Oliver was really good and seemed to enjoy everything he saw.

His favorite was the giraffes.  When we talk about the zoo that's what he mentions first.  "Giraffes.  They eating leaves."

Although it was a bit toasty, it wasn't unbearable for July.

Oliver also loved the splash park.  He was getting pretty sweaty and had some red cheeks so this was the perfect way for him to cool off.

Stop Time

As much as I love watching this little guy learn more and more each day, I sure wish I could hit pause and stop time.  Lately my little baby boy has been seeming less and less baby-like and much more like a little person.  His personality is coming out (and I may be a tad bias) and it's great.

He's starting to play pretend so much more and use his imagination  He is communicating in full sentences and sometimes just blows us away with what he knows.  His vocabulary is growing and he remembers details of things that I never thought he would remember.  I love watching him change and grow, but sometimes I just look at him and wish it would all slow down.

4th of July

Our 4th of July celebration was a bit different this year than it has been in the past.  Neither Riley nor I were looking forward to it because it was the first year since Oliver was born that we wouldn't be going to Wamego to be in the parade, grill at CTI afterwards, and watch the fireworks.  That is what we have done the past two years and we've really enjoyed having our families together and also the ease of the day.

Also, with Independence Day falling on a Tuesday, it kinda put a damper on the whole production and deciding our plans.  We originally weren't going to do anything, but decided that we would both take Monday off and have a long weekend in Horton.  There were lots of projects behind our motivation in going.  My mom and I needed to complete lots of baby projects including finish the mobile, make curtains, and make a crib skirt.  My dad was putting tin on the shed and needing extra hands (not mine!).  Jim and Riley had the cubby project to get done for our laundry room area-- more on that later.  Cubbies are done and installed, but Riley still has a few more little things to do to the laundry room before I can take "after" photos.

Anyway... we left Saturday morning for Topeka as Haley and Dalton had just moved the day prior.  We delivered a lawn mower and saw their new place.

Saturday evening we headed out to the lake to join my parents along with a bunch of their friends.  We ate lots of yummy food and Ollie even got to enjoy the lake with his first jet ski ride.
I was a bit nervous how the life jacket thing would go, since the only other time he had one on (in Branson) he had a total meltdown.  However, this time he was completely fine with it!
He looks like such a big kid in this picture!
Grandma and Grandpa even joined in the fun at the lake for a bit as they were cruising around.

Like I said, the rest of the weekend was spent working on lots of projects.  Ollie did some snaps in the garage, but other than that our firework display was pretty limited.  I don't think any of us saw any real fireworks in the sky (much too late for a little boy and a pregnant momma).

Somebody got lots of rides in the Gator...

...and even had fun swimming with Grandma while Daddy, Grandpa, and Papa worked on putting tin on the shed.

Although it was a bit of an unconventional 4th of July with no firework displays being seen by us, it was still a great weekend with family and lots of productivity on lots of projects.
