Independence Day

The kids and I spent Independence Day in Horton at my parents.  July 4th was on a Thursday this year and Riley was suppose to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Due to rain, he ended up having Thursday off, but didn't want to drive over 4 hours so he enjoyed some time to himself.

Because are you even a real mom if you don't put your kids in matching Old Navy flag tees at some point?

We spent the evening with some friends at the lake.  We didn't make it to the fireworks and ended up calling it a day and leaving about 30 minutes before dark.

Swimming is always a must at Yama and Papa's.

Homemade ice cream is also a summer must!

Fishing Derby

The fourth of July started off with the annual fishing derby held in Horton.  Grandma and Grandpa met us there with cinnamon rolls in hand.

We didn't catch a thing and it sprinkled just about the whole time, but it was still fun.

Root beer floats, of course, made the day even better.

Pais even won a fishing pole!

Emporia Zoo

While in Emporia for Eric and Sarah's wedding, we visited the zoo Saturday morning.  It was HOT, so it was a short visit, but still fun nonetheless.

Eric & Sarah's Wedding: The Ceremony & Reception

Eric and Sarah were married at the Gulfer Mansion in Emporia on Saturday.  It was a short outdoor ceremony following by an indoor reception.

This kid was living his best life...orange pop in a champagne glass!
