Easter 2016

We celebrated Easter this past weekend.  After helping move Haley's boyfriend Dalton to Topeka on Saturday we headed to Horton.  Ollie got his Easter basket from Grandma and Papa a day early.

On Sunday we went to mass in Meriden.
Oliver wasn't quite sure what to think about the Easter bunny.  He felt his ears...
...and eyed his basket.
An Easter egg hunt was scheduled following church, but since there was a bit of snow (yes, snow!) left from earlier that morning, the hunt was moved indoors.  It wasn't much of a hunt as the children were divided into groups and walked around in a circle to choose eggs and other treats out of totes.
Baby butt crack!  He takes his Easter egg hunting seriously ;)
He was a kind little egg hunter though.  He placed 5 eggs in this little girl's bag.  Sharing is caring!

We also had an Easter Egg hunt following lunch at my grandparents' house.  He was starting to get sleepy at this point, so daddy had to be nearby.
We weren't too sure how he would do because he isn't a huge fan of grass, however he surprised us and didn't seem to mind the grass.

This egg hunt had much more competition including this little cutie, Hudson.
He found 4 eggs and called it a day.
My grandma wanted a photo of all of her great grandkids that were there.  Hudson was MIA and Kaylee wasn't there yet at this point.  Ollie was all smiles to begin...
...but by the time Hudson had been tracked down, he had enough.

Always lots of laughs with these two :)

Riley's parents were out of town on Easter weekend so we didn't get to see them, but lucky for us they came to babysit today.  Ollie's daycare provider, Teresa was closed so he got to spend the day with them.  They got him a fisher price light-up lion stacker from his Christmas list.  He loves it!

New Foods

Over the last few weeks, this little guy has become quite the eater.  I'm not sure if he is growing or what, but he eats, and eats, and eats.  Perhaps he is just preparing us for his teenage years of nonstop eating...
Anyway, he is currently eating most things that we give him.  Typically he eats whatever we eat.  He loves fruits and veggies.  Green beans and cuties are his favorites.  He doesn't eat meat as well as fruit, veggies, and carbs.  Lately we have been giving him forks and spoons.  He doesn't have the fine motor skills to poke or scoop things up, but if we put it on the spoon or fork he will feed himself.

Being silly during meal time is a must.

Oliver had his first Orange Leaf experience a couple weeks ago.
He was more interested in the water cup than in the frozen yogurt.  I think the fro-yo might have been too cold for his liking

Oliver also really likes these pouch things.  These ones have fruit and yogurt and he loves them.
He also really likes the applesauce ones.  I think part of the thrill for him is that he gets to do it by himself :)
While we were in Horton for Easter Oliver showed us his sucker eating skills.  To our knowledge he had never had a sucker before, but apparently Papa had given him several while they had him during spring break.  His defense was, "You told me no juice; you didn't say anything about suckers!"
I guess that is what a papa is for :)

How Does This Happen?!?

Somehow, this little thing that seemed so tiny in his infant carrier when we were leaving the hospital...
... is now ready for a big boy car seat
Today was his first time riding in his big car seat.  He looks like such a toddler now and it makes me sad.  How does this happen?  He's growing too fast.

Mostly Nothing

We haven't had much going on lately which has been nice.  I've gotten a chance to get caught up on homework for my Master's degree and Oliver has perfected his walking skills.

Here is a photo of our little tax deduction when we were in Horton to get our taxes done last weekend.

We've finally started to have some nice spring weather so Ollie could get out and ride in his Cozy Coupe.  (Yes, he is in his jammies in the middle of the afternoon.  It was Saturday, so no need to get dressed.)
We have a bunch of sickies in our house as we all three have colds.  A nice relaxing weekend of mostly nothing was needed.
We are working on a new bedtime routine as the bottle is going bye-bye.  He has his occasional meltdowns when he wants his bottle, but for the most part he is doing really well.  Currently he is only getting a bottle when he wakes up (usually around 5:00 am) to put him back to sleep a little while longer.
