Maternity leave was certainly not what I expected with the current pandemic going on however, we made the best of it. Originally it was suppose to be just Baby Eden and I with Paisley continuing daycare and Ollie in preschool. Instead it was the four of us and it was confirmed that I would not make a very good stay at home mom.
We couldn't go anywhere, but we tried to have some fun and got lots of baby snuggles in.
We went on the occasional walk, but some days were just too cold.
Big sister is always wanting to hold her...
...and, of course, big brother has to get in on the action, too.
Pigtails!
Paisley had ramen noodles for the first time and according to her they were "deee-licious!"
Friday night in our house is often pizza night.
We also love a family movie night on Fridays.
Our biggest adventure during this stay-at-home order was going to Target to pick up an order of much needed diapers. The kids were starving so we grabbed some mid morning donuts at Dunkin and ate them in the back of the van.
Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit and surprised us with this awesome playhouse. Grandpa made it in a week's time using mostly leftover scraps from other projects. It is so cool and will definitely get lots and lots of use from these three for years to come.
Right after Grandma and Grandpa left from their visit, I opened too many drawer on Riley's toolbox and it fell over. A drawer caught my leg and I was on the losing end of that battle. Luckily Riley's parents were able to turn around and stay with the kiddos while he took me to the hospital for stitches.
At the beginning of May the stay-at-home order was lifted and we ventured to Horton for the first time as a family of five.
Poor little Eden got her first sun burn and I couldn't feel worse about it. I took the kids to one of my friend's house where a group of my teacher friends got together one afternoon. We sat on the deck and chatted while the kids played. Eden slept nearly the whole time other than a couple diaper changes and feedings. She was in her car seat shaded completely by her canopy. Well, apparently the sun's rays went right through and her little face ended up super red.
She even ended up with some tiny little blisters on her left cheek...talk about worst mom ever. I felt so, so bad! It didn't seem to bother her a bit though and thankfully everything healed up just fine.

My maternity leave wasn't what I expected. I didn't really have a maternity leave as I was doing distance learning from home with my preschoolers, doing school work with my own preschooler, trying to keep a two year old entertained and out of trouble, and taking care of a newborn. As crazy as it was, I'll miss being home with all of them. Tomorrow RCCC will open back up and I'll be teaching at summer camp for the rest of the summer.
