Wonderful Weather, Wonderful Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend with wonderful spring weather.  We didn't have anything scheduled for the weekend and were able to relax.  We enjoyed time together, much of it outside.

Our weekend with this little baby unicorn was great.  He took a fall at daycare this week which resulted in quite the little bruise between his eyes.

I decided that he just wanted to be a unicorn ;)  He didn't cry and it hasn't seemed to bother him.  All smiles for this little man.

Riley went to work for a few hours on Saturday morning.  I enjoyed some morning cuddles while Riley worked.  I think I got the better end of this deal by far!
Ollie and I watched a couple birds work to make a nest on the wreath of our front door.  Riley wasn't as amused with their work and destroyed their progress when he got home.
While Riley changed the oil in the lawn mower and worked on other tasks in the garage, Oliver played.  Ollie must have been preparing for one heck of a trip in his Cozy Coupe (or Comfy Cruiser, as Riley calls it).
He wanted to be sure that he was well hydrated.
Ollie also helped with some yard work.  He is finally used to the grass and enjoys running around in the back yard.

Lately, he has been looking less and less like a baby and more like a little boy.  I just can't wrap my mind about him being a toddler now!

Sunday morning we went to church in Manhattan.  (We tried the church in Flush as it is much closer to our home, but Ollie didn't do well and they don't have a quieting room.)  We like going to Manhattan so Ollie can run free and play in the quieting room.  It makes it possible for Riley and I to actually get something out of church rather than focusing on keeping the small child quiet, happy, and confined.

After church we headed to Sunset Zoo.  This was our first trip to the zoo as a family.  Oliver had been with Lacey as a little baby, but was usually in a sling asleep.
He loves being outside and loved looking around at everything.
This little chimp was showing off by doing somersaults and climbing all over his momma.

Oh how I love this little guy!

Oliver has always been good at drinking water, but he especially loves to drink out of mommy's water bottle.  We got him his own Camelbak so he would quit slobbering mine all up... and he loved it!  Such a big boy!
"Catch me if you can!"

Following the zoo, we went to AJ's New York Pizzeria.  (We tried to go here a while back, but stopped at the public library first...which resulted in us witnessing two grown men get into a physical altercation in the parking lot...which resulted in damage to my car, police reports, an angry husband, a couple of wasted hours... so we went home without pizza.)

Anyway, the pizza was worth the wait.  It was super tasty and we will certainly be back.
Ollie enjoyed some of my spinach chicken alfredo pizza.

I think the crust was his favorite - yum!

Once we got back home and Ollie had a nap (along with Riley too, of course) we headed back outside to enjoy more of the gorgeous spring weather.  Oliver was a great helper with vehicle washing.

Easter 2016

We celebrated Easter this past weekend.  After helping move Haley's boyfriend Dalton to Topeka on Saturday we headed to Horton.  Ollie got his Easter basket from Grandma and Papa a day early.

On Sunday we went to mass in Meriden.
Oliver wasn't quite sure what to think about the Easter bunny.  He felt his ears...
...and eyed his basket.
An Easter egg hunt was scheduled following church, but since there was a bit of snow (yes, snow!) left from earlier that morning, the hunt was moved indoors.  It wasn't much of a hunt as the children were divided into groups and walked around in a circle to choose eggs and other treats out of totes.
Baby butt crack!  He takes his Easter egg hunting seriously ;)
He was a kind little egg hunter though.  He placed 5 eggs in this little girl's bag.  Sharing is caring!

We also had an Easter Egg hunt following lunch at my grandparents' house.  He was starting to get sleepy at this point, so daddy had to be nearby.
We weren't too sure how he would do because he isn't a huge fan of grass, however he surprised us and didn't seem to mind the grass.

This egg hunt had much more competition including this little cutie, Hudson.
He found 4 eggs and called it a day.
My grandma wanted a photo of all of her great grandkids that were there.  Hudson was MIA and Kaylee wasn't there yet at this point.  Ollie was all smiles to begin...
...but by the time Hudson had been tracked down, he had enough.

Always lots of laughs with these two :)

Riley's parents were out of town on Easter weekend so we didn't get to see them, but lucky for us they came to babysit today.  Ollie's daycare provider, Teresa was closed so he got to spend the day with them.  They got him a fisher price light-up lion stacker from his Christmas list.  He loves it!

New Foods

Over the last few weeks, this little guy has become quite the eater.  I'm not sure if he is growing or what, but he eats, and eats, and eats.  Perhaps he is just preparing us for his teenage years of nonstop eating...
Anyway, he is currently eating most things that we give him.  Typically he eats whatever we eat.  He loves fruits and veggies.  Green beans and cuties are his favorites.  He doesn't eat meat as well as fruit, veggies, and carbs.  Lately we have been giving him forks and spoons.  He doesn't have the fine motor skills to poke or scoop things up, but if we put it on the spoon or fork he will feed himself.

Being silly during meal time is a must.

Oliver had his first Orange Leaf experience a couple weeks ago.
He was more interested in the water cup than in the frozen yogurt.  I think the fro-yo might have been too cold for his liking

Oliver also really likes these pouch things.  These ones have fruit and yogurt and he loves them.
He also really likes the applesauce ones.  I think part of the thrill for him is that he gets to do it by himself :)
While we were in Horton for Easter Oliver showed us his sucker eating skills.  To our knowledge he had never had a sucker before, but apparently Papa had given him several while they had him during spring break.  His defense was, "You told me no juice; you didn't say anything about suckers!"
I guess that is what a papa is for :)

How Does This Happen?!?

Somehow, this little thing that seemed so tiny in his infant carrier when we were leaving the hospital...
... is now ready for a big boy car seat
Today was his first time riding in his big car seat.  He looks like such a toddler now and it makes me sad.  How does this happen?  He's growing too fast.

Mostly Nothing

We haven't had much going on lately which has been nice.  I've gotten a chance to get caught up on homework for my Master's degree and Oliver has perfected his walking skills.

Here is a photo of our little tax deduction when we were in Horton to get our taxes done last weekend.

We've finally started to have some nice spring weather so Ollie could get out and ride in his Cozy Coupe.  (Yes, he is in his jammies in the middle of the afternoon.  It was Saturday, so no need to get dressed.)
We have a bunch of sickies in our house as we all three have colds.  A nice relaxing weekend of mostly nothing was needed.
We are working on a new bedtime routine as the bottle is going bye-bye.  He has his occasional meltdowns when he wants his bottle, but for the most part he is doing really well.  Currently he is only getting a bottle when he wakes up (usually around 5:00 am) to put him back to sleep a little while longer.

Daddy's Boy

Lately, Oliver has become quite the daddy's boy.  He squeals with delight every time he see's Riley walk through the door.

Today we met him outside and Ollie took the chance to test his driving skills ;)

My two favorite boys, home after a hard day of work/play.
