Wellman Family Photos

Since it seems that our family is always growing and changing, we are always trying to get updated photos.  Unfortunately, we were still missing Dalton, but we tried to get some family pictures while we were at Jim's for Thanksgiving on Saturday.

Sarah and I were unplanned twinning!

Thanksgiving 2018

We have so much to be thankful for this year.

I'll spare you any boring details, as we did what most people probably did -- ate way, way too much and enjoyed being with family.

Paisley's diet on Thanksgiving day consisted of four dinner rolls.

They are kind of hard to see, but there are a bunch of turkeys out in the pasture.

Book Worms

I captured this sweet moment between Ollie and Pais while we were in her room packing today.

Oliver has been into books pretty much forever, but Paisley just recently showed an interest.  Her favorite book is a sign language book that has movable parts.  She'll grab it off her shelf daily and find somebody to read it to her.

I love that she is into books.  I'll also admit that I frequently use them to get her to sit and snuggle for a few mintues!

Daddy's Big Helper

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Typically I am not one to put up Christmas decorations prior to Thanksgiving, but this year we broke from tradition a bit.  We are going to be out of town for Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend and then Riley is going deer hunting the weekend after that.  I didn't want to have to wait until the following weekend so against the wishes of Riley, we got everything put up today.

Christmas jammies and holiday music blaring were a must for this job.

Outside Christmas lights are not yet up which is one of Riley's most hated jobs.  No word yet on when that will be happening...

Turkey Stuffing

Today the kiddos and I ventured over to the Leonardville Library for some Thanksgiving fun.  They began by reading "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey" which is part of one of my favorite series.  I love reading these books to my preschoolers!

Each child was able to stuff their own turkey, sort of like Build-a-Bear.  It was adorable and free!

Paisley wasn't too interested in her turkey; she preferred eyeing the little baby nearby.  I'm not sure if she thought he was a doll or what, but she kept going over to him trying to rock him in his car seat.  Although it was sort of sweet, she was a little too rough.  We'll have to work on her mothering skills before baby Atzenweiler arrives (yes, that is right, my sister is pregnant!!).

I see more than two little turkeys in this picture!

The Grinch

We've wanted to take Ollie to a movie for quite some time.  We've been waiting for something good and this past weekend, The Grinch came out.

Pais hung out with Uncle Shelby and Aunt Jaime while Riley and I spent some special time with Oliver.

He was so excited!

Since it was his very first movie theater experience, we did it up and he got a snack box with popcorn, fruit snacks, and a pop.  (We hardly ever give him pop so he was pumped about his root beer.)

The spoiling continued with a game of bowling after the movie.

He skipped his nap due to the movie, but he only made it about a mile down the road after leaving Shelby and Jaime's and he was out!

Weekend Events

This past weekend was a busy one!

Krista and I ran a 5K on Saturday morning so she and my parents came Friday night.

Saturday turned out to be a perfect day for a race.  It was a bit chilly before we started running, but really we couldn't have asked for better weather.  It's been a while since I had run a 5K, but I've been working out pretty regularly with 80 Day Obsession so I was confident going into it.  My goal was to have a pace under 10 minutes per mile.  I ended up running a pace of 8:56 per mile with a total time of 27:44.  For me, not too shabby.

After the race, Krista and I enjoyed doing a bit of shopping, eating, and catching up.  As always, it was great to see her.

Riley had to work Saturday morning, but since my parents were in town watching the kids, we thought we would take advantage of the opportunity and go look at counter tops.  We painted our cabinets months ago, but hadn't been able to pick out counter tops without little ones in tow.  We weren't very successful, but we eliminated some things that we didn't want.  Now if only what I truly wanted would just be a bit cheaper!

My parents met us in Manhattan with the kids for a bit of shopping and dinner.

Family photos were also on our busy agenda for the weekend.  Originally, I had planned on just having my mom snap a few like we've done in the past with my sister playing photographer.  However, we lucked out and I won a free mini session from a local photographer.  Coincidentally, the mini sessions happened to fall on this same weekend.  Sunday morning we got dressed and headed to Riley for photos.  Paisley did not have a good morning so our expectations of her were pretty low.  She wasn't super smiley like she usually is, but she did pretty well during the first 15-20 minutes.  It was cloudy and cold, but it could have been a lot worse.  When we started it was spitting rain, but luckily that didn't last long.  Paisley let us all know when she had enough and I doubt we got a decent photo during the last bit of the photo shoot.

Our photographer, Sheridan, was super sweet and easy to work with.  She gifted us with the most adorable handmade Christmas ornament and sugar cookies as we left.  I'm very anxious to see the photos and am hoping that we got at least one great family photo.  With little ones... you just never know.

Hot chocolate was a must for Ollie when we returned home!
