Wamego hosts Oztoberfest at the end of September each year. I was excited to take Ollie this year. Riley wasn't too thrilled about taking a photo with the Wizard of Oz characters, but he went along with it because he knows what is good for him ;)
Ollie was a pretty good boy most of the day. He loves to people watch so he was content the majority of the day.
I wanted Ollie to compete in the costume contest so he was a scarecrow. This will double as his Halloween costume. I initially was going to try to make him a costume, but I found this one online when I was looking for patterns to make him one. It was too cheap not to pass up. (Although he doesn't look happy, he really was... just tired.)
The costume contest was right around his naptime so he fell asleep right before we went on stage. Luckily, he did wake up a little before it was our turn, but he was in a daze.
He'll have to practice his stage presence for next year, because he was lacking that this year. He's usually really smiley and happy, but the poor kid was just tired.
Ollie wasn't a winner in the contest, even though we thought he was pretty cute. The little boy next to us took the award for best scarecrow. I'll admit, he was pretty cute too.
Oztoberfest included a car show too so Jim & Marcia brought the Chevelle.
After Oztoberfest, we headed back to Westmoreland for some ice cream cake. Not just any ice cream cake, but Dairy Queen ice cream cake that was $28 and Riley was sure to tell everyone how expensive it was and that we would never buy one again. It was for my 28th birthday though and I'm worth it :) One dollar for each year, seems good to me.
Mexican food at La Fiesta was a great end to a fun day. Whipped cream in the face... not so fun.
