Christmas Carnival

We gave the Christmas Carnival in Manhattan a try this year.  I mainly wanted to go so the kids could see the Grinch (and we also needed to go to Menards - big surprise there!)

Home Depot had a tent space where you could build little projects.  The kids each made their own little ornament frame.  The kids really enjoyed it.

We went when Riley got off work and then decided to grab lunch before going to the carnival.  They had hot dogs and pizza, but we weren't sure what is would be like.  The pizza I saw went quickly.

It was a gorgeous day out for December, we didn't even wear jackets.  Since the weather was so nice, I think it was more crowded that it typically is.  We missed out on cookie decorating.  They had cookies left, but nothing to decorate with.  There were also balloons, and we missed those too.

Ollie was disappointed about that, but we did, however, get to see the Grinch.

The kids got to sit in a fire truck.

And we had several photo opportunities.

Because of the nice weather, the lines were extremely long.  We didn't go sit on Santa's lap, ride the train, do the carriage ride, the virtual sleigh, or the face painting.  The warmer weather was a blessing, but also a curse since we weren't able to do as much.  At least we weren't cold though!

We did play some games, watch the ice sculptures, and the kids got airbrush tattoos.

Overall, it wasn't a complete failure.  It's nice to know what it is all about and perhaps we will come back and try again another year.
